ROYAL CITY - Flor Araujo and Jennifer Ledezma scored penalty kicks to hand Royal a 1-0 victory over Mabton last week in a SCAC East girls soccer opener.

The two teams battled to a 0-0 tie through regulation time and overtime. They went to a shootout, and Mabton failed to score while Royal connected on two penalty kicks

The victory left Royal with a 1-1 record in the SCAC East. The Knights are 3-2 overall, beating Highland and Granger but losing to LaSalle and Grandview in earlier non-league action.
