Theodore K. Berg, age 67 of Athol passed away October 3, 2013. he was born January 21, 1946 to Theodore and Bessie berg of Cataldo. Tedd grew up in Cataldo where he attended the Kellogg School District. After graduating fromKellogg High School in 1963, he attended classes at Pacific Lutheran College in Washington. He also worked for the U.S. Forest Service planting trees and fighting fires. In 1965, Tedd joined the United States Navy and proudly made it his career, beginning in Vietnam. While at home on leave, Tedd married Rosalind Pattee on January 25, 1969 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Pinehurst. As a member of the Navy, Tedd raised his family in Yokosuka, Japn; San Diego, California; Topsham, Maine; Cataldo and Norfolk, Virginia. During his naval career, Tedd was able to tour the Holy Land and Rome, Italy. He took pleasure in crossing the Equator and managed to circumnavigate the globe. Tedd retired off the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy, a non-nuclear air craft carrier. After retiring, Tedd moved his family back to North Idaho where he eventually bought a home near Athol. He enjoyed boat fishing on area lakes and woodworking. Tedd is survived by his wife, Rosalind; sons Ted and wife Tricia, Lester and wife Tichelle of Athol; daughter Phaedra and husband Dale Mitchell of Caldwell, Idaho and Pedar and wife Tiffany of Beaverton, Oregon; 8 grandchildren: Lace and Logan Mitchell, Amanda and Corwin Berg, Lili and Jacob Berg and Pandora and Tor Berg; sisters Doris Shaw of Castro Valley, California and Janice Long of Athol. He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore C. Berg, mother Bessie Berg, brother Edwin Anderson and sister Joe Woodie. Tedd’s family will remember him as a loving, giving and strong man. Viewing will be Thursday October 10th from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel. Graveside Service will be at 11:00am Friday October 11th at Riverview Cemetery.
