LEWISTON - Niurika Toribio, a senior outside hitter who played her two first years of volleyball at Snow College, had 17 kills and nine digs to lead the NAIA Lewis-Clark State Warriors past the North Idaho Cardinals, 25-23, 17-25, 25-21, 21-25, 15-9 on Tuesday night at the Activity Center.

Sophomore Anyssa Matheson had 13 kills and two blocks for NIC (10-6), which travels to in-state rival Southern Idaho on Saturday afternoon in Twin Falls.

"Her first three games, she was on fire," NIC coach Miles Kydd said. "I though she was going really well. Then our passing kind of went away, but she played well and had some nice blocks too."

Setters Maddi Seidl had 34 assists and Allison Meehan 13 assists, and libero Russia Robinson 15 digs for NIC.

"Russia only played the first three games and came in to serve late in the match, or she would have been well over 20 digs," Kydd said. "I think our setters did a good job tonight and ran the middle really well."

Marissa Verduci, who played as a freshman last year at NIC, had seven kills and four digs for Lewis-Clark State (13-9). It was an exhibition match for the Warriors.

"We played a different lineup and took it as a chance to have some other players play," Kydd said. "It was just a chance to relax and play, and I think we did that. It got a little tense in the fifth game when we thought we had a chance to win the game, but it was a good night overall."
