This is it, the big weekend for deer hunters, as the modern firearm general season opens for most of Washington. Also the duck, goose, coot and snipe seasons open.

The duck, coot and snipe seasons will stay open through Oct. 16, close and then open again on Oct. 19. These reopened seasons, along with the goose season, will remain open through Jan. 26. The goose season is open on Saturday, Sunday and Wednesdays, with some holiday openings as well.

Good luck to all. Remember when in the Great Outdoors, have fun, but be careful out there.
