Cardinal men win tourney

HAYDEN - Angus Montgomery shot rounds of 74 and 74 for a 2-over total of 146, good enough for medalist honors and the North Idaho men won the Cardinal Invitational held Sunday and Monday at Avondale Golf Club.

Fellow Cardinal freshman Michael Porter shot 74-73-147 to tie for second.

"It was nice to have a comeback victory," NIC golf coach Derrick Thompson said. "We were in striking distance and the way we bounced back was just awesome."

NIC was tied for fourth place after one round.

On the women's side, former Timberlake standout Madi Hauck shot 87-87-174, tying her for 13th individually and the Cardinals wound up in fifth place at the tourney.

Thompson would like to thank the Avondale staff and membership for the use of their facility and for hosting such a wonderful event.
