The Whitefish defense was tested, but didn’t break as the Bulldogs escaped Livingston on Friday with a 6-0 non-conference football victory over Park High.

The Bulldog offense — held to just 112 yards — took advantage of one of three Park fumbles on the night to get just enough points on the scoreboard for the win.

After recovering a fumble in the second quarter at the Park High 17-yard line, Whitefish quarterback Luke May hit senior receiver Walter Holliday on a 3-yard touchdown pass. It was all the Dogs would need.

Whitefish’s defense came up with two goal-line stands. The Bulldogs stopped Livingston at the 5-yard line in the second quarter and then blocked a field goal.

Livingston drove to the 5-yard line in the third quarter and turned it over on downs.

Park finished with 185 yards on the ground after running the ball on 37 of their 40 plays.

Whitefish (5-2, 1-1) hosts Frenchtown (2-4, 1-2) on Friday in a crucial game for both teams eyeing a playoff spot. It is senior night for the Dogs and their final regular season home game of the year.

The Broncs knocked Whitefish from playoff contention last season in a 28-7 blow out at Frenchtown.

A 54-13 loss last week against Columbia Falls leaves the Broncs scrapping for a playoff spot and in need of a conference win.

Friday’s game begins at 7 p.m. at the Dawg Pound.
