JACOBSON: He's ready to lead
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 11 years, 3 months AGO
On Nov. 5, 2013, the voting citizens of Post Falls will be asked to choose a new mayor to replace Clay Larkin as he steps down for a much deserved rest. Two current City Council members are vying for the part-time job; Ron Jacobson (the current council president) and Kerri Thoreson (councilor).
Mr. Jacobson has served on the Post Falls City Council for 14 years, has a solid background in finance, and is the current vice president for the Inland Northwest Bank. Ron Jacobson’s focus appears to be on the city’s economic future by drawing more businesses to Post Falls.
Mrs. Thoreson has served on the Post Falls City Council since January 2008, is a part-time photographer for The Coeur d’Alene Press for high profile social and civic events, and writes The Coeur d’Alene Press’ weekly birthday and word of mouth column, “Main Street.” In a recent Press article, “Thoreson said she would take her first 100 days in office to review city operations and meet with city employees before rolling out ideas for change.” This suggests to me that her focus may well be on creating more bureaucracy and trying to do the City Administrator’s job?
Although Kerri Thoreson has performed well as cheerleader for the city and as a parade organizer, she appears to have no other recognized management experience except with the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce and the, now shuttered, Post Falls Tribune.
Post Falls needs someone who does not have to learn on the run. I therefore believe Ron Jacobson’s leadership on the Post Falls City Council, his demonstrated financial background and his 13 years of multilevel management experience make him the absolute best candidate for Post Falls mayor. Please vote for Ron Jacobson.
