Knit for fun, charity at Kalispell store

There are new opportunities for knitters and crocheters at Camas Creek Yarn this fall.

Bonnie Smith is hosting a knit along at the yarn store. Make a fun and easy rectangular shawl from a brand new kit.

The yarn in the Transitions Shawl kit is hand-painted by Blue Ridge Yarns. The idea is that each of the four skeins is different but corresponds in one color to the next, so by using them sequentially, the shawl transitions from one colorway at one end to a completely different colorway on the other.

The knit along is free, and will be held every Sunday from 2  to  4 p.m. beginning Nov. 3. Those interested are asked to sign up and purchase a shawl kit in advance, and have the yarn wound and free pattern downloaded before the first class.

Camas Creek Yarn is once again taking on a charity project. This year, the store is partnering with Flathead County RSVP’s Winter Ready program, which provides handmade hats and mittens to children in local elementary schools and Head Start programs so they can go outside at recess even if they lack adequate winter clothing.

Winter Ready is an established program that has donated thousands of hat and mitten sets to children in need.

In the months of October and November, Camas Creek Yarn will provide a discount to charity knitters and crocheters who intend to make hats and mittens in child sizes for donation to Winter Ready.

Just mention the RSVP Winter Ready program and the store will offer 50 percent off two balls or skeins of yarn (washable, please). The store will collect the hats and mittens and give them to RSVP.

For more information about either project, stop by the store at 338 Main St., Kalispell, or call 755-9276.
