Phil Fisher is proud of the infrastructural advancements Troy has accomplished in his almost four years on Troy City Council.

Born and raised in Troy and Libby, Fisher says his only agenda is to simply help the people of Troy.

“At one point we were pumping 15 million gallons of water a month,” Fisher said. “Now we have that down to five million gallons. We could get that down to two or three million gallons. That was a lot of waste.”

Fisher also mentioned the audit of the town’s electric wires he believes will lead to fewer power issues for residents.

A former owner of a truck and trailer business, Fisher says he uses that experience when working on the city budget.

Fisher acknowledges the challenge Troy faces in creating jobs. His youngest son works out of town due to the limited options.

“I’m proud of the water feature we built in Roosevelt Park,” Fisher said. “I have a lot of the materials I need to build a sand volleyball pit down there, too. Just need to find the time.”

He enjoys the compliments people make when commenting on the quality of such a small town’s park. He tried setting up an ice skating pond last winter, but Mother Nature did not cooperate.

He says the first two years of his term were difficult, but says things are getting better and is running for re-election with continued momentum in mind.

“We didn’t do any streets this year, but last year we did chip coating and sidewalks,” Fisher said. “We can get kids out of the streets during winter if we give them sidewalks.”

Fisher remembers how popular the Fourth of July used to be in Troy.

“People came back because of how people got along,” Fisher said. “The effort of the small town community attracted them. I want Troy to keep that.”
