SOUZA: The people's choice

I had the pleasure of attending the Democrats’ mayoral candidate forum last Wednesday. During the opening remarks, Steve Widmyer touted his endorsements by the police, fire and Coeur d’Alene Association of Realtors. I can assure you that there was never a rank and file poll, or blanket endorsement, by any of the Realtors outside the Board itself. This type of endorsement is the same way some of our current city council members vote. They feel they know what the public wants on the big issues without asking them. I am sure this is the same situation with the police and fire departments, just as it was with the Coeur d’Alene Board of Realtors.

Hopefully all the members of the police and fire department, along with the Realtors in the community, will feel free to vote independently and not feel intimidated as they did during the Recall Campaign. This time there is no public list, or the ability to see if you signed a petition. There can be no retribution, so vote your conscience! Mary Souza is definitely for the protection of private property rights, job creation and protecting the public. Please take the time to visit MARYFORMAYORCDA.COM and get the facts. I truly believe you will see that Mary is the clear choice for Coeur d’Alene. It’s time for the people to take a stand and RECLAIM their city.
