Football roundup: Columbia Falls rolls over Libby

LIBBY — Jared Trinastich passed for three touchdowns and Zach Darling ran for three more as third-ranked Columbia Falls crushed Libby 44-6 Friday night in Northwestern A football action.

Columbia Falls (7-0 overall, 3-0 league) put the game out of reach by scoring 30 points in the third quarter.

Darling, 17 carries for 188 yards, had scoring runs of 6, 40 and 18 yards.

Trinastich, 13 of 23 passing for 157 yards, hit Alex Presnell on scoring strikes of 12 and 13 yards and Ty Morgan for 16 yards.

Nic Robertson scored for Libby (1-7, 0-3) on a 9-yard run.

Polson 52, Havre 20

POLSON — A 17-point second quarter allowed Polson to pull away from Havre for a Class A nonconference victory.

Havre and Polson (5-2 overall) traded touchdowns in the opening quarter, both scoring twice.

Polson quarterback Andrew Weltz rushed for 155 yards on 22 attempts and threw for 118 yards by completing 6 of 11 passes.

Brady Hislop had touchdown runs of 15 and 13 yards, booted a 22-yard field goal and was perfect on seven PAT kicks. He totaled 136 yards rushing on 17 carries.

Polson rushed for 399 yards on 50 attempts.

Tanner Wilson hauled in a 54-yard pass from Weltz for a touchdown in the second quarter and scored on a 56-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Cedrick Smith intercepted two passes for Polson. Hudson Smith also had an interception.

WHITEFISH — Luke May rushed for two touchdowns to guide Whitefish (6-2, 2-1) to a Northwestern A victory over Frenchtown.

May’s scoring runs, 18 and 11 yards, came in the first half. He rushed for 118 yards on 18 carries and threw for 137 yards by completing 10 of 14 passes.

Whitefish opened the third quarter with a 70-yard, eight-minute scoring drive. Calub Thilmony capped it off with a 4-yard run.

Frenchtown had just one offensive series in that quarter.

Sean Foley capped another long scoring drive by the Bulldogs in the fourth quarter with his 15-yard run.
