Viking boys, girls nab district titles

MOSCOW - Lake City senior Bryce Kananowicz took three seconds off his state record time in the 200-yard individual medley, winning in 1 minute and 50.97 seconds at the North Idaho district swim meet Saturday at the University of Idaho pool.
Kananowicz also won in the 500 freestyle.
Kyle Jones won in the boys 100 butterfly and the foursome of Ethan Cordes, Jones, Kade Hern and Dyson Savage won in the 400 freestyle relay for Coeur d'Alene's boys, who edged Moscow for the district title.
Coeur d'Alene beat Lake City for the girls team title.
"Half of the team is going to state," Coeur d'Alene coach Rich Swoboda said. "We have a lot of new swimmers that had their best times tonight."
Post Falls senior Maggie de Tar set a district record in the 200 individual medley, winning in 2:12.41.
The state meet is Nov. 1-2 at the Boise West YMCA.
