ROYAL CITY - Royal High School won for the second time in SCAC East volleyball last week, taking River View in four games.

But that victory did not come without some work. The Knights won 31-29, 14-25, 25-19, 25-21.

Royal was led by Kayla Smith. She went 18-20 serving, with five aces, 10 kills 13 digs and six blocks. Lindsey Small went 18-19 serving, with nine kills, nine digs and three blocks.

"Good play all the way around by the girls," coach Paul Olsufka said. "A nail bitter in the first, trading points back and forth until we got the win."

There was a bit of a letdown in the second game, but the Knights were able to "pull it together" for the last two games.

"The confidence level is rising, and the girls are playing as one unit," Olsufka said.
