Burglary reported at storage unit
COEUR d'ALENE - A storage unit business at 4901 Industrial Loop, Coeur d'Alene, was burglarized sometime between Oct. 13 and Monday, resulting in the theft of approximately $6,000 worth of electronic equipment.
According to a Coeur d'Alene Police Department report, the owner of the storage unit, a Hayden resident who rents it with two other relatives, went to the site on Monday and noticed a different lock was on her unit.
After contacting both her relatives and property managers, the owner determined that no one else had placed a different lock on the storage unit. She then pried off the new padlock and noticed several items, including a Nintendo Wii, speakers and approximately 300 CDs, were missing.
Upon investigation, the responding officer was able to determine that an unknown suspect used "an unknown instrument" to either pry or cut the existing padlock to gain access to the unit and steal the items before placing another padlock on the door.
The police report states there is no business name on the storage unit facility, but there is a sign that says "Resort Property Management."
