Whitefish Theatre Company presents its first Black Curtain Theatre production of the season with “Frozen” at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish.
This mesmerizing and relevant drama by Bryony Lavery has performances at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 2 and 3.
Compassionate and angry, Tony-nominated “Frozen” entwines the lives of a murderer, the mother of one of his victims, and his psychologist to explore our capacity for forgiveness and remorse after an act that would seem to rule them out entirely. The lives of these characters slowly intersect through a rotation of monologues as they embark on a long, dark journey resonant of an icy, slow thaw.
“Our Black Curtain Theatre productions are about exploration for both actors and audience,” director Gail Cleveland said. “Actors have scripts in hand and rehearsal time is short, but it is so rewarding to dive into humane, intelligent plays.”
“The play, ‘Frozen,’ at its core, is about moving on,” Cleveland added. “Under horrific circumstances, the play explores how we must leave grief and revenge behind to become happier, healthier people.”
Cast members include Nancy Nei, Katie Nixon, Andrew Matulionis and Mike Conway.
Viewers should be reminded that this play has adult content and language. Whitefish Theatre Company strongly recommends that this play is for older students and adults.
Viewers are also reminded that as a Black Curtain production, there will minimal staging, no set or props, and actors will be reading from a script.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students with general seating. Tickets are sold only at the door on the evenings of each show.
