Wallace beats Lakeside, winner to state game tonight

SPIRIT LAKE - Talia Hendrickx had 34 assists, 17 digs and three aces for the Lakeside Knights, which lost Game 2 of a best-of-3 1A Division I District 1 tournament to the Wallace Miners 25-19, 25-18, 20-25, 25-22 - forcing a decisive third game tonight at 6 p.m. at Timberlake High.

Tonight's winner advances to the state tournament starting next Friday at Lewis-Clark State College.

Avery Brown-Sonder had 30 digs, 10 kills and three aces, Sheyenne Shamburg 16 digs and five kills for Lakeside (13-9).

Gretchen Farkas had 27 assists, Emily Nelson 30 digs and six kills for Wallace (6-8).

SPIRIT LAKE - Autumn Wagoner had 15 kills and six blocks to lead the Wampus Cats past the Tigers 25-22, 23-25, 24-26, 25-21, 15-12 win in the championship game of the 1A Division II District 1 tournament at Timberlake High.

Clark Fork (10-6) advances to a state play-in match on Saturday at St. Maries High against the District 2 runner-up at 6 p.m., with that winner advancing to the state tournament starting next Friday at Lewiston High.

Priest River beats Kellogg to advance

to state 3A tournament

RATHDRUM - Jill Weimer had 10 kills and three aces and Karly Douglas 22 assists to lead the second-seeded Priest River Spartans (12-5) past the top seeded Kellogg Wildcats 25-20, 25-11, 25-16 in the 3A District 1 tournament championship match at Lakeland High, and advance to the state 3A tournament starting next Friday morning.

Earlier, Ayla Jelinek had eight kills and five digs and Shea Dretke had eight kills, three digs and two blocks for the Timberlake Tigers, which lost to the Bonners Ferry Badgers 25-22, 25-21, 25-22 in a loser-out match.

Courtney Eaton had 17 assists, three kills and three digs for Timberlake, which finishes 3-24.

Kellogg (12-10) faces Bonners Ferry (12-17) in the second-place match tonight, with the winner advancing to a state play-in game on Saturday at McCall-Donnelly High.
