basketball coach to speak to NIC boosters
COEUR d'ALENE - Coeur d'Alene High boys basketball coach Kurt Lundblad will be the main speaker at the North Idaho College Booster Club's luncheon at noon Tuesday at The Coeur d'Alene Resort.
Lundblad's father, Dean, was the head basketball coach at Coeur d'Alene High for 16 years. Kurt Lundblad, 47, was named head coach last spring. He played for his father in the early 1980s and then played for NIC for two years. Lundblad was an assistant coach at NIC for two years under coach Greg Crimp and head coach for three years at Sandpoint High.
The public is welcome to attend. The cost of lunch is not covered.

Cardinals on the road for
two volleyball matches
The North Idaho College volleyball team, ranked 16th in this week's NJCAA poll, returns to Scenic West Athletic Conference play tonight when the Cardinals travel to the seventh-ranked Salt Lake Bruins starting at 6 p.m. PDT.
NIC (11-7, 4-2 SWAC) lost to Salt Lake (18-6, 6-0) in four games 16-25, 25-23, 25-23, 27-25 when the schools met on Oct. 5 at Christianson Gym.
NIC freshman Maddi Seidl leads the conference in assists per set with 10, with Allison Meehan third with 8.6.
The Cardinals conclude the roadtrip at Snow College on Saturday in Ephraim, Utah. NIC beat visiting Snow in five games in their conference home opener on Oct. 3 21-25, 23-25, 25-16, 25-20, 15-10.
NIC men to open
district soccer play today
The North Idaho College men's soccer team is seeded fourth in the Region 9 men's soccer tournament, and will open against No. 5 seed Northwest College of Powell, Wyo., today at 5:30 p.m. PDT in La Junta, Colo.
In two matchups with Northwest this season, NIC has won both, a 3-2 overtime win in Powell, Wyo., on Aug. 25 and a 2-1 win in Coeur d'Alene on Sept. 1.
NIC (10-5-2) has won four of its last five matches.
Northwest College is 7-5-2.
