POST FALLS - An anonymous local veteran is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the conviction of the suspects in the metal military plaque theft case at Q'emiln Park.

Two other anonymous donors are also offering a $500 reward each, bringing the total from local anonymous donors at $1,500.

"The idea is to have law enforcement nab the bad guys," the veteran said. "This is a very serious crime. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

"We're not going to just roll over and let this pass without speaking up."

Five metal plaques with emblems of each branch of the military were pried from the concrete base of a memorial at the Post Falls park sometime between Oct. 18 and Oct. 21.

The plaques are 2 inches thick and 15 inches in diameter, valued at $275 to $700 each, depending on the type of metal.

The Post Falls Lions Club installed the plaques in 2001 as part of the club's dedication of the pavilion.

Crime Stoppers of the Inland Northwest is also offering a reward in the case.

Those with information on the incident are urged to contact Post Falls Police at 773-3517 or leave an anonymous tip at www.postfallspolice.com.
