KENNEWICK - Big Bend Community College seems to not mind its road trips.

The team moved to 4-2 away from the DeVries Activity Center after defeating Columbia Basin Community College in five games (20-25, 25-22, 18-25, 25-21, 15-13) Wednesday night.

The win pushes the Vikings' Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges East region record to 5-5 and their overall record to 11-19. Big Bend holds a narrow advantage over Treasure Valley Community College for the fourth and final playoff berth from the region.

Wednesday night's match against the Hawks was a back and forth affair that took the full fives games. Columbia Basin previously beat Big Bend in five games at the Spokane Invitational in September. The Vikings got their revenge later in the month, downing the Hawks in four games at home. Sound defense helped the Vikings take the rubber match in Kennewick.

Big Bend combined for 94 digs and 14.5 total blocks. Defense has been a staple for the Vikings all season, as the team has totaled 86.5 total blocks, 18.5 more than their opponents.

Sophomore setter McKall Miller paced the offense against the Hawks recording a triple-double with 10 kills, 25 assists and 17 digs. Outside hitters sophomore Katie Reeder and freshman Shania Bateman also added 10 kills each. Reeder finished with a double-double after contributing 20 digs as well.

Freshman middle blocker Payton Clark led Big Bend with 21 digs.

The Vikings return home tonight to face Yakima Valley Community College at 6 p.m.
