ANNIVERSARIES

Paul and Marilyn Peterson

50th Anniversary

Nifty, nifty, looks who's celebrating 50!

Paul and Marilyn (Byrd) Peterson were married at The Hitching Post in Coeur d'Alene on Oct. 26, 1963.

They have five children, Denna, Kelly (Ronnie) Baldwin, Barbie, Mitch and Patty; and have seven grandchildren, Aaron and Katie Baldwin, McKenzie Peterson, Kortni and Abigail Peterson, and Hayley and Audra Zisk.

Happy 50th anniversary Mom and Dad/Grandma and Grandpa from your children and grandchildren!

Warren and Dana Merritt

35th Anniversary

Warren and Dana Merritt celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on Oct. 7, 2013. Warren and Dana were high school sweethearts and were married in Bellevue, Wash., on Oct. 7, 1978.

In Issaquah, Redmond and Ellensburg, Wash., they raised their two children, Jessica and Ryan. Warren spent 32 years with the city of Bellevue Fire Department before retiring in February 2012 to accept the position of Fire Chief with Kootenai County Fire and Rescue. Dana is currently a substitute teacher with the Post Falls School District.

The Merritts live in Post Falls and love to spend time with their children, Jessica and Ryan and Sadie, their grandchild from Ryan and Heidi.

Amongst a small group of family and friends they renewed their vows on Oct. 5, 2013, at their home, with Sadie being the ringbearer for the ceremony. We are extremely proud of our family and especially our children who we love very much.

Gladys B. Smatlan

100th Birthday

Gladys B. Smatlan is celebrating her 100th birthday on Nov. 10, 2013!

Friends and neighbors are cordially invited to join Gladys and her family for a celebration open house from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, hosted by Ed and Wendy Smatlan, 1579 E. Stratford Drive, Hayden, (208) 771-1143.

BIRTHS

Abigail Ann Covell was born at 6:48 p.m. Oct. 8, 2013, to Jasmine Covell. She weighed 5 pounds, 13 ounces and was 19 inches long. Maternal grandparents are Carol Covell and Jeremy Covell.

Elizabeth Rae Gunderson was born Oct. 16, 2013, to Meggan Babcock and Travis Gunderson of Coeur d'Alene, at Kootenai Health. She weighed 7 pounds 2 ounces.

MILITARY

Air Force Airman Cody R. Conway graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

Conway is the son of Sean and Susanne Conway of Athol.

He is a 2012 graduate of Timberlake High School in Spirit Lake.

Army Pvt. Delvin Nielsen has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

Nielsen is the son of Jami and Roger Nielsen of Rathdrum.

He is a 2012 graduate of Lakeland High School in Rathdrum.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Logan M. Miller graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

Miller is the son of Rene Miller of Coeur d'Alene.

He is a 2009 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane.

MISSIONARIES

R. Ladd and Nyleen Livingston, of Coeur d'Alene, have been called to serve an 18-month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Chile West Mission in Santiago, Chile. This is a Spanish-speaking mission and they will be working in the area of Perpetual Education and Self Reliance Training.

With the Perpetual Education Program, The Church provides low-interest loans to young church members in many countries, including Chile which enables them to get their education. When they have found employment, they are then asked to re-pay the loan and that money is then loaned out to another so they will have the same opportunity. The Livingston's will report to the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah, for three weeks of training and then leave for Chile on Nov. 14.

Adam Sedgwick, 20, of Post Falls, was recently called to serve a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Utica New York Mission. His parents are Mike and Michelle Sedgwick of Post Falls. Elder Sedgwick graduated from Post Falls High School in 2011, attended the University of Idaho and also worked as a tutor there.

Shaelynn Nicole Meek, 19, of Post Falls, was called to the Arizona Mesa Mission for 18 months. Her parents are Niel and Tanya Nielson. She graduated in 2012 from Salisbury Composite High School in Sherwood Park, Alberta, after attending three years at Post Falls High School. Shaelynn attended BYU-Idaho and worked at Please Mum, a Children's clothing store in Alberta.

Jared Blair Erickson, 18, of Post Falls, will serve in the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission. He is the son of Sheri and Alan Erickson of Post Falls. Jared graduated from Post Falls High School in 2013 and worked for The Coeur d'Alene Resort Conference Center Kitchen.

Brinton Scott Taylor, 18, of Harrison, will serve his two-year mission in Warsaw, Poland. He is the son of Daniel and Jennifer Taylor of Harrison. Brinton graduated from Lake City High School this year and worked for Big Rock Construction.

Elizabeth Nona Bingham, 19, of Hayden, will be serving for 18 months in the Anaheim, Calif., Spanish-speaking mission. Her parents are Richard and Debby Bingham of Hayden. Elizabeth graduated from Sentinel High School this year and attended BYU-Idaho. She worked at Cafe Carambola and Super 1 Foods.

Kilie Alexis Ellison, 19, of Post Falls, was called to the Georgia Macon Mission for 18 months. She is the daughter of Jared and Courtenay Ellison of Post Falls. Kilie graduated from Post Falls High School in 2012. She attended BYU-Idaho and worked for Glendive Family Dentistry in Glendive, Mont.
