The Lady Loggers celebrated Senior Night by downing the Whitefish Lady Bulldogs 25-13, 25-17, 21-25, 25-22 Saturday night.

The Loggers honored their lone senior, Kelsey Klin, in a pregame ceremony along with seniors from the cheerleading squad and the golf team. Klin, who is one of the most consistent servers on the team, came through with her strongest effort of the year by serving up six of her team’s 23 aces.  

Head Coach Cindy Ostrem-Johnston complimented Klin’s play and the Loggers’ recent success.

“It was great to win our last home match,” she said. “Competing well at the Missoula Tourney and winning our last two matches should build some confidence in the team.”

The Loggers started slowly but took advantage of Whitefish miscues to win the first set.  In the second set the Logger attack got rolling with 12 kills. Hannah England had 10 assists to six different hitters for kills, and Devon Gallagher ended it with one of her three blocks.

After Whitefish rallied back to win the third set and take an 8-4 lead in the fourth, Libby came roaring back to finish off the Bulldogs. Dayln Germany got hot with seven of her 13 kills to propel the Loggers to their second conference win.

On Thursday, the Loggers made short work of the Eureka Lions, winning 3-0 behind two long service runs by Staci Regh.  Ostrem-Johnston said, “We did a better job of staying focused and not getting on that rollercoaster. It was nice to be in control in all three sets. We got good contributions from all players.”

The Loggers used strong hitting from Hailley Moe to take the first set 25-14, and Regh finished off the second set with seven straight points to win 25-12. Libby followed that up with nine straight points behind Regh’s serving during the 25-10 third-set victory.

The Loggers head into the final week of the season with a 2-4 conference record.  They face Polson and Frenchtown on the road.
