COLUMBIA FALLS — Columbia Falls’ defense was ready for the Polson rushing attack on Friday.
The unbeaten Wildcats bent but didn’t break in a 42-5 drubbing of the visiting Pirates.
Polson’s most productive drive of the day was their first, a 15-play clock-eater that ended with a Brady Hislop 27-yard field goal.
Hislop led the defensive unit as well, accounting for six tackles and a sack for a safety, the Pirates other two points of the contest.
Polson quarterback Andrew Weltz was held to just 48 rushing yards on 19 carries. He also threw two interceptions.
The Pirates (5-3, 2-2) draw Southwest second-seed Hamilton in the first round of the postseason. The Broncs will host the 1 p.m. start.
