Aug. 26

A resident on Hems Rd. in Columbia Falls reported someone stole an air conditioner and some gas cans.

The owner of a Jeep reported stolen in West Glacier said he located the missing vehicle and a suspect in a bar in Coram.

Two floaters reported missing on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River were located by the ALERT helicopter.

5 a.m. A man reported someone breaking into one of his shop buildings on Jellison Rd.

Aug. 27

A man said he confronted a motorcyclist who was spinning his tires on Fourth Ave. South in Hungry Horse and got punched in the face by the rider.

Aug. 28

Four drunken women were reportedly causing a traffic hazard as they walked down U.S. 2 East into Hungry Horse.

Columbia Falls police responded to a report of a man and woman fighting in a vehicle as it drove down Highway 206. The vehicle reportedly swerved through traffic and nearly hit a motorcycle. When the officer stopped the vehicle, he found a child in the back seat. The couple told the officer nothing was going on, and that they were “just out for a drive with the kids.”

A Columbia Falls police officer apprehended four youths who were seen at night along 13th St, West. A caller suspected they were breaking into vehicles. The youths were eventually released to their parents.

Report of someone placing a couch outdoors on Cedar Pointe Loop in Columbia Falls and setting up a camp fire nearby.

Aug. 29

A woman on Trap Rd. in the Columbia Falls area reported a “young Russian man” came to her door and was persistent and wouldn’t leave. The man told her he’d be back, she said.

Two men selling books door-to-door in Columbia Falls were told to get a permit from City Hall.

A wallet was turned in at the police station after it was found on Sixth St. West in Columbia Falls with a significant amount of money and an ID.

Aug. 30

A man in a road rage incident was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after threatening a Columbia Falls police officer in a parking lot.

A caller reported seeing two people on the U.S. 2 strip in Columbia Falls exchange money and a package. One was riding a bicycle.

Report of a possible break-in at a garage on 10th St. West in Columbia Falls.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
