Shepard leads Sandpoint JV in five set loss to Badgers

BONNERS FERRY — Mackenzie McDonald had 14 kills and three aces to lead the Badgers past the Bulldog junior varsity 12-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-20, 17-15 in a nonleague match on Tuesday night.

Emma Kelly had 29 assists, Mallory Stipich 18 digs and Camille Awbrey three blocks for Bonners Ferry, which travels to Clark Fork on Thursday.

Amy Shepard led the Bulldogs with 12 kills, Darby Scrimsher four aces and Shepard, Laney Search and Trinity  Young each added 16 digs in defeat.

“Coach Jim Glaeser said it was a good measuring stick to play against a varsity squad,” said Bulldogs head coach Karen Alsager. “It was fun to play a varsity team and now we know where they need some work.”

The Sandpoint varsity opens the season tonight on the road against 5A Lake City.
