TWIN FALLS - Leeta Grap had a career-high 22 kills and added 11 digs as the North Idaho Cardinal volleyball team beat 11th-ranked Hutchinson (Kan.) College 22-25, 25-22, 25-14, 17-25, 16-14 at the Starr Corporation Invitational on Friday night on the campus of the College of Southern Idaho.

Freshman Brittany Aldridge had 15 kills and 14 digs and Russia Robinson 40 digs for NIC in the match.

"It was a very impressive performance by Leeta, Brittany and Russia," NIC coach Miles Kydd said. "Brittany came off the bench and was a workhorse for us. Russia, that was just the best I've seen her play."

Earlier, Grap had 12 kills and 12 digs as the Cardinals beat seventh-ranked Miami-Dade 25-14, 25-18, 25-18.

"We passed the ball really well and got into our offense," Kydd said. "We were able to put them in trouble in the match and played the most consistently we've played all year."

NIC (4-2) will face Laramie County and 13th-ranked Blinn College today to conclude the tournament.
