OTHELLO - A 14-year-old unlicensed driver, resident of Othello, was injured in a two-car crash on Aug. 17 two miles west of Othello on highway 26.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved, the Washington State Patrol said. All vehicle occupants were using their safety restraints.

The unlicensed driver was injured. She was transported by ambulance to Othello Community Hospital. She was driving a 2006 Sedona, which was totaled and impounded by Oscar's towing.

The driver of the second vehicle was George M. Roper, 67, of Othello. He was not injured.

Roper was driving a 1989 Dodge Dakota pickup. It was totaled and towed away from the scene.

According to the State Patrol, the Sedona was westbound on 26 and attempted to make a left turn onto Thacker Road. Roper was eastbound on 26.

The State Patrol said the vehicle driven by the 14-year-old failed to yield right of way and drove into the path of the Roper vehicle.

The 14-year-old driver faces a charge of driving without valid driver's license, the State Patrol said.
