NOXON – The Red Devils faced off Charlo in their first away game of the season, challenging themselves and testing one another to their limits.

The Red Devils were unable to come up with a point and lost 0 to 60.

Head Coach Josh Patterson said the team is going back to the drawing boards, working on fundamentals and on foundational skills.

“You can’t do a play right if you don’t have the basics. This is organized football – this is different then playing on a playground,” said Coach Patterson.

The Red Devils will be working on their skills in their core positions.

The game fell short of expectations on Friday but there is positive to every situation.

“On a positive note, we seemed to move the ball a little better in the first game at least in the first couple drives,” said Coach Patterson. “We always shoot ourselves with some kind of penalty or bad snag. Right now we are our own worst enemy, we are not helping ourselves out at all.”

Coach Patterson did say Charlo deserved a lot of credit because they continually remain to be a good team.

Next on the schedule is Victor at the first home game of the season. The game lands on this Friday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. and will prove to be a challenge.

“We are going to see a lot more of the same thing we saw this last Friday,” said Coach Patterson explaining Victor has a touch team and their quarterback led the conference last year.

“We have to learn how to defend the path. It’s going to be a long night,” said Coach Patterson.

The kids have the mind frame that they will be going into the game for a fight and are mentally prepared.

“They know it’s going to be tough. No one said it was going to be easy,” said Coach Patterson.

Although the goal throughout the season is to rack up some victories, Coach Patterson said the important thing is weekly advancement.

“Our goal is to win but in games where things aren’t going our way, we just want to get better…if we can see improvement week to week, that’s a good thing,” said Coach Patterson.
