The Columbia Falls High School volleyball team took second in the Northwest-Southwest Class A tip-off tournament in Hamilton on Sept. 6-7.

The Wildkats beat Butte Central 25-23, 25-22, Anaconda 25-15, 29-27, lost to Dillon 25-22, 25-19, and tied Corvallis 13-25, 27-25 on the first day of action as they went 6-2 overall.

On their second day, the Kats beat Dillon 25-17, 25-21. The also split with Stevensville and Hamilton, but the scores were not available at press time.

“I’m very pleased with the way the girls played this weekend,” coach Josie Brown said.

After two losses in their opening week, the Wildkats worked on their defense in practice and it paid off.

“The entire weekend was definitely a step up,” Brown said.

The girls are at home against Libby on Thursday as they begin conference play.

“It’s always an intense game,” Brown said. “We want to get conference play off to a good start.”

The Kats were scheduled to play Stillwater Christian at home Saturday, but that has been changed to Thursday, Sept. 19, with a 4:30 p.m. junior varsity start and a 6 p.m. varsity tip-off.
