The Libby Loggers (0-2) travel to Hamilton (1-1) this week in search of their first victory in the young season. 

Led by senior quarterback Jared Winslow, the Loggers plan to spread the field against a like-minded opponent. 

The Loggers’ biggest challenge will be slowing down the Broncs’ aerial assault, directed by senior quarterback Josh Bauder. Only two games into the season, Bauder has thrown for more than 600 yards, nearly half of those going to senior receiver Teague Blome, younger brother of the Hamilton coach. 

Coach Travis Blome, 29, says his brother and fellow receiver Chris Cleveland will continue to see the ball early and often. 

Still in search of their strengths, the Loggers have deployed both I-formation and spread sets on offense this year. Facing the Broncs’ 4-2-5 defense, Libby coach Neil Fuller says he hopes to find some consistency through the air with a still developing receiving core.

On defense, the Loggers will shift from their base 5-3 to a 4-4 scheme. The key to the game may be the Loggers’ ability to create a pass rush against an inexperienced Hamilton line. 

The Broncs’ overcame five first-half turnovers last week against Columbia Falls to stake a 29-22 lead with 1:15 remaining, only to allow a touchdown on the final play of regulation. Columbia Falls elected to go for two and converted on a sharply executed slant.

Libby fell 28-0 to the Anaconda Copperheads last week. They have not scored in seven consecutive quarters.
