Warner serves Wampus Cats past Warriors

CLARK FORK — Freshman Allison Warner had a monster serving night, tallying 16 aces and closing out two games with long service runs while leading host Clark Fork to a 25-21, 25-18 and 25-19 win over Kootenai in North Star League volleyball on Tuesday night.

Annie Wurm added 11 set assists, while Leslie and Lyndsie Kiebert finished with four kills apiece for the Wampus Cats (1-2, 1-1 NSL) took control midway through the first set and never looked back. Warner had several lengthy service runs, featuring a well-placed serve with top spin.

“We finally came to play. They finally figured out it’s a volleyball game and they passed really well,” said Wampus Cats head coach Cindy Derr. “Leslie took care of the back row and Allison did a beautiful job of serving tonight.”

Madison Grubham finished with seven set assists, Jenna Karpinski three kills and two aces, Lacy Goodson three aces and two kills and Austin Anderson two digs in defeat for the Warriors (0-3, 0-2).

Clark Fork is at Noxon on Tuesday.
