Ultramarathon
The 32nd annual LeGrizz 50 Mile Ultramarathon race will take place along the Hungry Horse Reservoir on Saturday, Oct. 12, starting at 8 a.m. The event is sponsored by the Cheetah Herders Athletic Club. History run
The fourth annual 10K and 5K Run Through History will take place in downtown Kalispell on Saturday, Sept. 28, with registration at the Museum At Central School from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and the 10K race starting at 10 a.m. Pre-register for $15 online at www.downtownkalispell.com or on the day of the race for $20.
Hole in one
Sandra Mellish, of Langley, B.C., hit a hole in one at Meadow Lake Golf Course on Sept. 1. She used a 7 wood to ace the 127-yard second hole. Barbara Linn witnessed the hole in one.

Bill requires verification before issuing driver's licenses
A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.
Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.
Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
