MOSES LAKE - Registration is open for a workshop designed for people in management positions, especially recently promoted managers.

Two separate sessions are scheduled, one Oct. 8 and the other Oct. 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day. The workshop will be at the ATEC building on the Big Bend Community College Campus.

Registration is $75 through Friday, and $100 after that. Diana Welch, owner of Human Resource and Management Solutions, Yakima, will be the instructor.

The move to supervisory positions can be tough, and the workshop is designed to help managers, new and experienced, with the challenges of the position, according to a press release on the workshop.

The idea is to help people learn how to make the jump from one of the crew to part of management, the press release said.

Topics covered include effective communication and improving the work environment, how to encourage better performance, and success in managing difficult employees.

There will be information on effective training and staff development, leadership and management skills, and meeting diversity challenges.

Class size is limited. People can register by email at kendra.phundheller@bbsihq.com.
