St. Regis senior Dallas Lewis does not forget last year’s heartbreaking St. Regis Tiger football loss to the West Yellowstone Wolverines in one of the teams few home games of the season.

Motivated by the support of the community, “friends and family alike,” Lewis and the new look Clark Fork Timberwolves took the field Friday to face off against West Yellowstone on Tiger Homecoming night. Although the Tigers are solely represented by Lewis and two other St. Regis High School students, the crowd was roaring from kick off all the way until the final seconds ticked off the clock.

The Timberwolves stormed into Friday’s contest fresh off of a huge victory and utilized the momentum to continue playing the same brand of high-octane football that was able to beat Big Sandy on the road last week and this week would leave the Wolverines grasping to get anything going.

Alberton senior Keir Sanzano had a career showing on Friday for the Timberwolves – racking up four touchdowns during the game, two on the ground and two on catches thrown by quarterback Jack Lehl.

“I feel like the team is well on our way to becoming a two-dimensional football team,” Sanzano said after the victory. “We are working on the ability to pass the ball better so that we are more versatile in our offense.”

The Timberwolves passing game was huge against West Yellowstone. Lehl found his target on eight of 19 attempts during the game, which resulted in 198-yards and four touchdowns.

Lehl, a junior at Alberton, also had no problem taking the ball to the ground on several occasions including a 16-yard touchdown run.

Sanzano ended the game with 96-rushing yards for the Timberwolves and the senior said right now the sky is the limit and the goals are big.

“Our motivation is mainly the fear of losing,” Sanzano said.

“We want to be a championship worthy team, and to do that we must play hard every game. The team’s main goal is to become a state championship team and take home a title.”

The Timberwolves beat West Yellowstone in convincing fashion 60-19 on St. Regis’ homecoming night and for Lewis the victory “felt amazing.” The home victory might also help Lewis achieve one of his two goals for the season.

“My awesome Alberton teammates encouraged me to stick with it (football) and my goal is to get more Tigers out there playing,” Lewis said.

“As for the team I would love for us to go far this year, I believe we have strong playoff potential.”

The Clark Fork Timberwolves improved to 2-0 and have a bye this week.
