Driver dies after pickup hits tree

A 54-year-old Whitefish man died after his pickup truck hit a tree east of Whitefish on Saturday night.

The Montana Highway Patrol says the man was speeding and failed to negotiate a right-hand turn at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday when he struck the tree. He died at the scene.

The man’s name hasn’t been released.
