Lady Logger spikers start strong, taper off

The Lady Loggers took the first set in their home conference volleyball match with Polson, but the Lady Pirates stormed back to win 3-1 on Friday.
The Loggers posted 13 kills in the first set, winning 25-22, and looked like they were going to stand toe-to-toe with Polson. Pirate blocking eventually slowed Libby’s attack and turned the tide in their favor.
The Loggers dropped the second set 25-20. “We couldn’t get a block up to slow Polson’s attack and we committed too many unforced errors,” said Coach Cindy Ostrem-Johnston.
Polson won the next two sets 25-18 and 25-21.
Devon Gallagher led the Loggers with 11 of the team’s 41 kills. Hannah England recorded all 35 of Libby’s assists. Mahalah Wedel led Libby with 34 of the team’s 62 digs.
The Loggers celebrate homecoming next week, entertaining the Frenchtown Lady Broncs on Saturday.
