POLSON — A Lake County detention officer has been placed on paid administrative leave after his arrest over the weekend.

Undersheriff Dan Yonkin said the officer was arrested after someone shot at a street sign in Sanders County.

He faces a charge of misdemeanor negligent endangerment.

Yonkin says an internal investigation is underway.

Yonkin says another jailer, who was placed on paid leave on March 11, returned to work a week later. That officer was placed on leave after Polson police responded to a noise complaint at his residence and found a number of intoxicated people under the age of 21.

Yonkin says two other people, including the detention officer’s roommate, likely will be charged with providing alcohol to minors. He says an investigation cleared the officer of any wrongdoing.
