• Taylor joins Rathdrum Counseling Center

Rathdrum Counseling Center announced the addition of Dixie Taylor, certified alcohol and drug counselor. Taylor's position is the clinic's substance use disorder staff supervisor and treatment specialist. Taylor has 25 years of professional experience in substance use disorder work. She teaches undergraduate and master level studies in chemical dependency and treatment at the University of Idaho's Coeur d'Alene location.

"She is an avid advocate for women experiencing addiction and trauma, a strong collaborator with our community partners, and unwavering supporter of all who are faced with addiction and seeking recovery," states the counseling center's announcement of Taylor's hire.

In 2009, Taylor was awarded the Community Service Award, presented by the Regional Advisory Committee on Substance Abuse in Kootenai County.

"Dixie's passion in her work is demonstrated every day while working closely with those she treats. We cannot be more happy with Dixie and her dedication with her work and her commitment to those she serves," wrote Lynn Russell, the counseling center's owner and director.

• Northwestern Mutual Cd'A hires top intern

Northwestern Mutual's Coeur d'Alene office announced a new hire, Cody Lewis, who worked as an intern in the office last fall. Lewis is completing his last semester at the University of Idaho in Moscow. He will begin working in Coeur d'Alene in May.

While an intern, Lewis was one of the company's top-producing 100 interns nationwide to be invited to attend Northwestern Mutual's Winter Camp held each year at the their home office in Milwaukee. Lewis ranked 56th in the company nationwide, competing against interns from more than 400 offices including those in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York.
