CONNOR VANDERWEYST | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 10 years, 7 months AGO
KENNEWICK - Othello softball did plenty of celebrating after taking two games against Southridge recently.
Othello's 12-0 win in the first game marked the 400th win for coaches Rudy Ochoa and Mike Jensen. Game balls were awarded to both long time coaches who are 401-79 overall in their 18-year careers.
Madison Martinez threw a no-hit shutout and helped her own cause going 2-2 at the plate and scoring three runs. Holly Fleshman added four RBIs.
Sofie Rodriguez and Kirsten Quigley recorded two hits each.
The Huskies (2-0, 4-0) continued their dominance in the night cap and cruised to a 13-4 win.
Quigley fanned 16 Southridge batters and finished 4-4 with two triples and four RBIs.
Southridge was able to cut into the Othello lead after a three-run blast in the fifth inning, but the Huskies still had a comfortable eight-run lead.
Martinez and Tori Zambrano went 3-4 and 2-4, respectively, in the second game. Jordan Ziemba also hit a home run.
Othello will return to the diamond April 10 when the team hosts Prosser. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
