POST FALLS - Treavor Hammell belted two home runs in the second game and finished the day with seven RBIs to lead the Post Falls Trojans in a doubleheader sweep of the Moscow Bears on Monday at Post Falls High.

Ryan Hunt struck out 10 with no walks for Post Falls in the first game, picking up his second win of the season.

Hammell, Jacob Koski and Trystan Valente all had RBIs in the first game.

In the second game, Dalton Lozier fanned eight Bears batters with no walks, and Hammell's second home run of the game provided all the runs the Trojans would need for the sweep.

"We had a lot of guys on vacation, so some of the young guys stepped up and filled some spots," Post Falls coach Dustin Frank said. "They did a great job and competed all around."

Frank was impressed with Hunt and Lozier, who combined for 18 strikeouts and no walks.

Frank said Hammell has been working "pretty hard year-round for the last couple of years and it all came around for him today."

Post Falls (7-1) hosts Lakeland on April 8.

Sam Slusser struck out six in 4 2/3 innings of relief for his first win of the season.

JJ Winger pitched a complete game in the second, throwing only 69 pitches and striking out two. He also picked up his first win.

"(JJ) had a couple single-digit pitch innings, so he was efficient that way," Lake City coach Travis Georgius said. "That was huge."

"We had another good outing - we hit pretty well the first game. We didn't hit as well in the second but we executed when we needed to," Georgius said.
