EPHRATA - Grant County commissioners received three applications so far for the vacant seat on the Moses Lake Irrigation and Rehabilitation District's Board of Directors.

Commissioners announced last week they would be accepting applications for the position until April 17. As of Monday, Mary Perry, Tom Bennett and Kris Dexter submitted paperwork indicating their interest in the position, according to the commissioners office.

Perry ran for a seat on the board in December, but lost to directors Bill Bailey and Jeff Foster. She said she submitted a letter of interest to commissioners, but has not yet completed the application.

Interested applicants must submit both a letter of interest and an application to be considered for the position, according to commissioners.

"I am considering applying for the position, that's what I will say at this point," Perry said.

David Skaug, who also ran for a seat during the last election, said he could not comment as to whether or not he would be submitting an application. Former candidate Larry Tracy was unavailable for comment at press time.

The position on the board has been vacant since early March, when former director Mick Hansen resigned. The person commissioners appoint will serve the remainder of Hansen's term, which ends in December.

MLIRD directors hold regular meetings on the second Tuesday of each month. District guidelines outline $90 for each day or portion thereof as compensation, not to exceed $8,640 in a calendar year.
