COEUR d'ALENE - Koerner Furniture of Coeur d'Alene Idaho has been named one of 10 nationwide finalists for "Retailer Of The Year" by the North American Home Furnishings Association.

Koerner Furniture is owned by brothers Mark and Tim Koerner of Coeur d'Alene. The business will celebrate its 35th anniversary later this year. They purchased the business from their parents, Barb and Rich Koerner, who started the business in 1979.

The NAHFA announced that Koerner Furniture's nomination for the national award was a result of their "exemplary service to the industry and to their communities and for providing an exceptional customer experience in their store."

Candidates fall into two categories: businesses with annual sales less than $10 million and those with sales of $10 million or more. Koerner is one of 10 finalists in the $10 million or less category.

"Being nominated for this award came as a complete, but very pleasant surprise," Mark Koerner said. "Tim and I have to give credit to our staff for helping to create our great customer experience. It's just fun to come to work each day."

Koerner said NAHFA officials indicated the retailer of the year winners will be announced during the April High Point Market, and the awards will be presented June 1 at the Home Furnishings Networking Conference in Phoenix.
