Annexation of land to be considered

The city of Kalispell could become 18.5 acres larger if the City Council approves the annexation of a parcel of undeveloped property north of Kalispell.
A public hearing at tonight’s council meeting will deal with both the annexation request and a request to zone the property residential.
Daniel and Marion Pentelute are asking for annexation of their property on the east side of U.S. 93 North about 1.3 miles north of the intersection of U.S. 93 and West Reserve Drive.
The Pentelutes want to sell the property and believe that having city zoning and access to city services will add to the property value. The property is surrounded by city land on three sides.
The Kalispell Planning Board unanimously has recommended approval of the annexation request and residential zoning.
The council also will consider a construction agreement with the Montana Department of Transportation for the reconstruction of First Avenue East and First Avenue West this summer.
The project includes improvements required by the Americans with Disabilities Act as well as mill, overlay and chip-seal construction.
The affected roadway on First Avenue West is from Center Street to Airport Road. On First Avenue East work will be done from Center Street to Fifth Street East. The construction will be funded by the state through the Urban Pavement Preservation Program and doesn’t require city money.
The council meets at 7 p.m. at Kalispell City Hall, 201 First Ave. E.
