Ken and Lois Carlson

60th Anniversary

Ken and Lois Carlson will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this weekend. They were married on March 6, 1954, in Chicago, Ill.

They spent 20 adventurous years in the Navy, living in various places such as Maryland, Rhode Island, Spain and New York. They then settled down in Evergreen Park, Ill., for 30 years. After retiring, they moved to Coeur d'Alene.

Their five children, Ken, Glenn, Chris, Roy and Jennifer, spouses and grandchildren will celebrate this wonderful event with them at the Clark House. They thank the Lord daily for his many gracious gifts.

Ila Aiken

105th Birthday

Ila Aiken will be celebrating her 105th birthday on April 8, 2014. She was born April 8, 1909, in Granville, N.D.

She married Jim Fagan, and they were together for 25 years. They had four children. Jim worked in construction, so during the Depression the family converted an old school bus into a mobile home so they could go with him wherever he could find work. Jim and Ila divorced in 1954.

Ila later married Art Aiken and they were together for 25 years until he passed away. She then moved to Spokane and met Steve Moore who became her lifetime companion for 25 years until he died about four years ago.

Her children are: Loren Fagan of Las Vegas, Nev. (deceased), Dorla Overlin of Post Falls, Phyllis Manley of Post Falls and Jim Fagan Jr. of Clearwater, Fla. She has 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Raising four healthy children was one of her lifetime achievements. Ila contributes these words to her longevity: "My faith in God and keep your nose to the grindstone through good and bad times." Her most memorable moment in history was Pearl Harbor. She "remembers it like it was yesterday."

Ila will be celebrating her birthday with family and friends Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Guardian Angel Homes in Post Falls. She also celebrated with a family dinner Saturday, April 5, 2014.

Birth

Anne Gloria MacPhee was born at 9:52 p.m. March 18, 2014, to Teresa and Scott MacPhee of Coeur d'Alene. She weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20.25 inches long. Brother is John. Sister is Katherine. Maternal grandmother is Julie Dahlgren. Paternal grandparents are John and Carol MacPhee.
