Moses Lake boys soccer tie Mt. Spokane

MEAD - Moses Lake ended the non league portion of its schedule with a 1-1 tie against Mt. Spokane recently.
Midfielder Saul Maciel recorded the Chiefs' lone goal off an assist by fellow midfielder Sean Cotton in the 16th minute. Mt. Spokane knotted the score at 1-1 in the 61st minute.
At the end of regulation, the host Wildcats elected not to go to a shoot out.
"That's sort of disappointing," head coach Bill Bertram said. "We like to have a result one way or the other. It's good practice for us."
After starting the season with back-to-back losses to Ellensburg and Lewis and Clark, Moses Lake (2-2-1) strung together two victories against Gonzaga Prep and Mead before tying Mt. Spokane.
"We definitely could've won a couple games that we lost, but we're heading into league ready to roll," Bertram said.
Moses Lake will open Columbia Basin Big Nine play at home Tuesday against Eisenhower. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
"Right now the slate's clear," Bertram. "There isn't one team in the Big Nine that isn't capable of winning it this year ... It's going to be a knock down drag out against this year."
