Big Bend's skid continues against CBC, Walla Walla

MOSES LAKE - The losses are beginning to pile up for the Big Bend softball team.
Recently, the team lost back-to-back two-game sets against Columbia Basin and Walla Walla. Big Bend (1-11, 3-15) dropped game one to Columbia Basin, 8-3, before losing the night cap, 9-0.
The struggles continued against Walla Walla. Big Bend was unable to record a hit in the first game and lost, 12-0. Game two wasn't much kinder as the Vikings were able to scratch out a run, but fell 9-1.
Columbia Basin did most of its damage early and lead 7-3 after two innings.
Cheyenne O'dell provided a spark in the second inning with a RBI single. The Vikings continued their rally with a RBI double from Tiffany King-Phillips and a RBI single from Kelsey Cearley.
However, that was the extent of Big Bend's offense in game one.
King-Phillips finished 3 for 3 with one RBI.
In the night cap, Columbia Basin opened up a 6-0 lead after two innings and cruised to a 9-0 victory after five innings.
Erica Chandler and Lauren Schwalbach sprayed a pair of doubles.
Walla Walla's Hanna DeBaugh recorded a no hitter in five innings of work against Big Bend.
Emma Stephens drove in Big Bend's lone run in the second half of the twin bill against Walla Walla.
Chandler was 2 for 3 with a double. Schwalbach was 2 for 2 with a run scored.
Big Bend baseball splits against Spokane
Brett Fredericksen smashed a one-out double in the bottom of the ninth and scored off an error by Spokane to lift Big Bend to a 7-6 win.
Big Bend (2-6, 12-8) was unable to complete the sweep and feel to Spokane, 6-5, in the night cap despite blasting four home runs.
Kyle Wagner led Big Bend in game one, finishing 3 for 3 with three RBIs. Dylan Signorelli also blasted his fifth home run of the season.
In game two, Big Bend led Spokane 5-4 entering the ninth inning before the Sasquatch were able to plate two runners to grab the lead.
The Vikings return to the diamond today against Columbia Basin at home. The first game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
