POST FALLS - Two departures and new challenges herald leadership changes this coming fall at Post Falls High.

Dena Naccarato, who has been the school's principal for the past six years and was vice principal four years before that, will become the district's administrator of federal programs and curriculum.

"I think I am ready for a new challenge and the opportunity to help the district grow and change at a systemic level," Naccarato said. "Of course it was difficult to make the decision. I work with amazing teachers and students everyday and I will miss that daily interaction. I really enjoy my job.

"My move takes effect in June once I have completed all that needs to be done, so the high school is ready for the 2014-15 school year."

Post Falls High has an enrollment of 1,430.

Naccarato previously taught for six years at Lakeland High School, two at Lakeland Junior High and two at Centennial High in Meridian.

The district is accepting applications for the principal job through April 18.

Barney Brewton, who has been in charge of federal programs and curriculum in addition to being the principal at Seltice Elementary, will stay the principal at Seltice.

Karla Merrill, who became a vice principal at Post Falls High during the 2008-09 school year, is retiring at the end of the year. She began teaching in Post Falls in 1987 and taught in Wallace from 1985 to 1987. The application deadline for the vice principal position has ended.
