It's called a reload raffle: Buy a ticket and win a gun, and maybe win another gun and maybe another and, possibly, a ton of ammunition.

Idaho's Friends of the NRA is raffling off 100 guns from May through October - 10 guns each month - and then 75,000 rounds of ammunition, weighing 2,000 pounds. Half of the money raised will stay in Idaho in support of shooting sports, said Friends of the NRA member Tim McCormick.

"A lot of the money stays local," he said.

Money raised at the organization's annual banquets and through the raffle drawings have funded grants for improvements to the Fernan Rod and Gun Club, the Coeur d'Alene Skeet and Trap Club, the Hauser Rod and Gun Club and the shooting range at Farragut State Park.

Last year's fundraiser raised nearly $600,000, McCormick said.

Tickets are $100 each. Each time a winning ticket is drawn, the ticket will go back into the pot and be entered in each subsequent drawing, McCormick said.

Guns up for grabs include shotguns, assault rifles, pistols, rifles, revolvers, semi-automatics and target rifles. The grand prize of 2,000 pounds of mixed ammunition is being donated by ATK-CCI/Speer Federal Cartridge from Lewiston.

McCormick said the ammunition will be delivered to the winner anywhere in the continental U.S.

Tickets are available at River City Pawn in Post Falls. More information is available on the Idaho State Rifle and Pistol Association's website at www.idahosrpa.org.
