Turkish vocalist Aysenur Kolivar will perform Friday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center, 405 N. Williams St., Post Falls.

The concert is the culmination of a week-long North Idaho residency by Kolivar and her three-piece ensemble. It is presented through the JACC's Caravanserai cultural exchange program. Several Turkish artists have visited the region with Caravanserai, billed by the JACC as a "groundbreaking artistic and cultural exchange program meant to showcase the diversity of contemporary Middle Eastern societies through their art and culture."

Kolivar's musical exploration began in her youth when she spent summers connecting with the musical heritage of her native Anatolian Black Sea region. She went on to attend university in Istanbul, where she studied Turkish language and literature and deepened her exploration of music and folklore.

Kolivar's North Idaho residency will include assemblies, lectures and demonstrations throughout Kootenai and Benewah counties.

Tickets to the Jacklin center shows are $15/adults, $10/students and seniors. Info: (208) 457-8950 or www.thejacklincenter.org
