VANTAGE - Westbound traffic on Interstate 90 near Vantage came to a halt Wednesday morning after a Moses Lake truck driver collided with three vehicles.

About 7:30 a.m., a white 2008 Kenworth semi-truck loaded with hay struck a street sweeper parked behind an asphalt grinder in a coned-off construction area near the Vantage Bridge, where crews are repaving about 11 miles of road. The street sweeper, which was unoccupied, was then pushed into an asphalt grinder, according to information from the Washington State Patrol.

The semi-truck continued and sideswiped a 2003 Cadillac CTS before colliding with the rear of a 2010 Dodge Ram pickup. All vehicles came to rest in the two westbound lanes, blocking traffic for several hours. One trailer on the semi-truck was overturned, causing the load of hay to spill onto the interstate.

The driver of the semi-truck, Ricardo Reyes Lopez, 42, was not injured in the collision. Juana Rangel Alvarado, 33, of Mattawa, driving the Cadillac, and Eric J. Brindle, 48, of Quincy, the driver of the Dodge, were both injured and transported by ambulance to Quincy Valley Medical Center, according to the State Patrol. Authorities at Quincy Valley Medical Center said as of Wednesday afternoon, one victim had been discharged and one was in stable condition.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated by the State Patrol and no charges had been issued as of Wednesday.

Traffic heading west on I-90 was stopped until about noon as workers cleaned up the area.
