• Lewiston man hurt in motorcycle crash
A Lewiston man was injured in a motorcycle wreck near Lenore, Idaho, Saturday afternoon.
Idaho State Police reported Brooks Lecates, 22, was driving his 2008 Yamaha east on U.S. Highway 12 at milepost 28.2 when he failed to negotiate a corner and lost control. He was ejected from the motorcycle prior to going over the embankment.
Lecates was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Lewiston. He was wearing a helmet, but it came off in the crash.
• 5-year-old on bike struck by 18-wheeler
BOISE (AP) - A southwestern Idaho boy was seriously injured Monday afternoon when he was struck by an 18-wheeler.
Boise police say the five-year-old child was riding a bicycle when the truck hit him near the intersection of Cole Road and Fairview Avenue just before 3:30 p.m.
The boy was riding with a five-year-old girl when the collision happened, according to police.
Witnesses say he was pedaling across Fairview Avenue behind the girl when the truck hit him.
The boy was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.
The injured child's parents arrived at the scene a short time later, and police say they are with him at the hospital.
Police have closed the road in order to reconstruct the crash.
